Put butter or margarine, sugar, dried fruit, water, spices and salt in a pan on a low heat until just melted.
Allow to cool for around 10 minutes. Meanwhile preheat oven to 170C.
Grease and line a 20cm round cake tine.
Once mixture has cooled a bit, stir in flour and pour into the cake tin.
Bake for 45 minutes.
This recipe is suitable for vegans if baked using vegan margarine.
